-Art is both tough and fragile. It speaks of what we long to hear and what we dread to find.

up next to your name there are two items, "deviations" and "Messages". Deviations are the works of others whom you "watch". You watch people either by adding them at their "deviation" (another word just saying "an artwork" but is called deviation here for the purposes of the site.) or by adding them at their profile page. You just commented on my profile. This was my first blog, here.
next there's 'messages' pretty easy. You see the messages there. To make a journal look over the right hand side under your user profile and hover the mouse under the "submit" area which I gather you found. That is your gateway to all the useful things on the site. This site has been cloned many times, I suspect, but is the original of this type. To read more find the wikipedia entry for "Deviantart" and hear all about Jark and Spyed, and Fella, the icon of deviantart. Now that I'm done singing it's praises, I don't know if I myself will be coming here much. I have a website, paintings to make, inspiration to find, etc. But there are a lot of minds on DA. A lot of views. I felt you among the people I know from the April Show would find this place interesting. You are being dragged, kicking and screaming into the twentyfirst century. But aren't we all?
